1. Who we are
Iglesia Cristiana El Getsemani ("we," "us," or the "Church") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit church in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. This policy explains how we handle information on our website, iglesiaelgetsemani.org (the "Site"). Our mobile app has its own Mobile App Privacy Policy.
We collect as little as we can, we use it only for the reasons below, and we never sell it.
2. Information we collect
a) When you visit the Site
The Site is hosted on Firebase Hosting, a Google service. To deliver pages and protect the Site, Google processes standard technical information that every browser sends: your IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, the date and time, and the page that linked you here.
We don't use analytics or advertising tools on the Site, and we don't follow you from page to page or to other sites.
b) When you fill out a form
Our "Let us know you're coming" form asks for your name, an email address or phone number, the service you plan to attend, how many people are coming and an optional message. Our contact form asks for your name, email address, an optional phone number and your message.
We use this information only to reply to you and to welcome you. It is stored in our database (Google Cloud Firestore) and sent by email to contact@iglesiaelgetsemani.org through Microsoft 365, our email provider. We delete form messages after 12 months.
c) When you give online
Online gifts are processed by Stripe, our payment processor. Your card or bank account details are entered into fields that Stripe provides and go directly to Stripe; we never see or store your full card number, security code or bank account number.
From Stripe, we receive your name, email address, the amount, fund and frequency of your gift, its date and its status, and limited payment details such as the type of payment method and the last four digits. We use this to record your gift, to keep the Church's accounting and tax records and to answer your questions. Stripe emails your receipts and lets you manage recurring gifts. Stripe's use of your information is governed by the Stripe Privacy Policy.
You can also give with Zelle from your bank's app. That payment happens in your bank's app, not on the Site, and goes directly to the Church's bank account. We receive your name, the amount and any memo, as your bank and Zelle share them, and use them the same way.
d) Member pages
Some pages are for church members and ask for the members' password. When you enter it, the Site stores a small cookie on your device so you are not asked again for 30 days. The cookie does not identify you and is used for nothing else.
e) When you contact us directly
If you call or email us, we use your contact details and message only to respond to you.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. The Site uses only:
- the member-page cookie described above;
- cookies that Stripe sets on our giving page to process payments and prevent fraud;
- Google reCAPTCHA on our forms, our giving page and the member pages' password, which helps tell people from automated abuse. reCAPTCHA collects hardware and software information and sends it to Google. The Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.
Some pages show a map from Google Maps. It loads only if you allow it: choose "Accept all" in the notice shown on your first visit, or "Show the map" on the page. When it loads, Google receives your IP address and may set cookies under its own Privacy Policy.
The Site also keeps a few of your choices in your browser's storage on your device: your answer to that notice, light or dark appearance, your language on the Bible pages, the Bible reader's text size and the last chapter you opened, and, while you give, your gift's status. They stay on your device, are never sent to us, and you can clear them in your browser's settings.
4. How we share information
We share information only with the service providers that run the Site for us, and only as needed for the purposes above: Google (hosting, database, reCAPTCHA and maps), Microsoft (email), Stripe (payments) and Cloudflare (domain name service). We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the safety of our members and visitors.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.
5. How long we keep information
- Form messages: deleted after 12 months.
- Gift records: kept as long as needed for church accounting and tax records.
- Technical logs: kept by our providers for a limited time, as described in their policies.
6. Security
The Site is served only over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access to form messages and gift records is limited to authorized church staff. Payment details are handled by Stripe, which is certified to the highest level of the payment card industry's security standard (PCI DSS).
7. Your choices and rights
- You can ask us to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you. Gift records we must keep for accounting and tax purposes may be kept even after a deletion request.
- You can update or cancel a recurring gift at any time through the "Manage my recurring gift" link on our giving page, or by contacting us.
- You can delete cookies in your browser settings. If you delete the member-page cookie, you will be asked for the password again.
We will respond to requests within 30 days.
8. Children
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Other websites
The Site links to other services, such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, X, Threads and Google Maps. Their own privacy policies apply when you use them.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will post the new version on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
